How to Check the Pressure in Car Tires and Add Air - It's Easy, Here's How.

You'll need:
Tire Gauge
Air Hose
1.
Park your vehicle so that the air hose will reach around the car to all 4 tires. Let the tires cool down a few minutes before checking the pressure.
2.
Look for the tire pressure specifications for your car’s tires. This information is molded into the side of the tire, inside the driver’s side door, door frame or on the inside of the glove box. If you can’t find it in any of these places, check your owner’s manual.
3.
Look at each tire and check for tire wear. Remove the cap from the valve, replacing the valve cap on each tire as you go.
4.
Using a tire pressure gauge, press the gauge firmly against the tire valve. If you hear a hissing noise, don’t panic - that means your letting the air out, so you’ll need to press down a bit harder until the hissing stops. Now, look at the tire gauge and read the pressure. Remove the tire gauge.
5.
Add air according to the tire’s specifications by pressing the air pump hose onto the valve using the same technique as you used to check the tire pressure. Some air hoses may have a lever you need to squeeze to allow air flow into the tire.
6.
Check the air pressure again with the tire gauge.
7.
If the gauge reads you added more air than specified, deflate the tire by lightly pressing the tire gauge to the top of the valve until you hear a hissing sound. This will let the air out. Go slowly in short bursts, re-checking the tire pressure after each release to make sure you didn’t let too much air out.
8.
Don’t forget to check the air in your spare tire.

That’s it – you’re done!

Keep in mind that temperature can change tire pressure. Colder weather causes tire pressure to decrease, so be sure to check tires often and add air as necessary. In warmer weather, your tire pressure will rise, so you may have to deflate your tires a little bit due to warmer temperatures increasing the air pressure
